KMC committed to uplift Mehdi Hassan’s mausoleum: Administrator Karachi

Administrator Karachi Laeeq Ahmed on Monday said that Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) would fulfil its responsibilities to uplift mausoleum of renowned singer Mehdi Hassan.

In a statement issued here on Monday, the Administrator said that Mehdi Hassan was a great singer asset of Karachi who served Pakistan with his art.

Taking notice of news regarding dilapidated condition of Mehdi Hassan’s mausoleum at Muhammad Shah graveyard, Ahmed the renovation works would be carried out while plantation would also be done around the grave.

The administrator directed Technical Service Director General, Director General Parks and Horticulture and Senior Director Municipal Services to conduct survey and start the works forthwith.

Ahmed directed that works should be done in a manner that heirs and fans of Mehdi Hassan don’t face any difficulty in visiting the mausoleum.

KMC invites private sector to cooperate with it in making roundabouts more beautiful

Meanwhile the Administrator Karachi Laeeq Ahmed on Monday said that private sector is invited to cooperate with the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation in making roundabouts more beautiful.

In a press release issued on Monday it was stated that KMC is going to launch plantation campaign from 15 February in which environment friendly and fruit giving trees would be planted, the Administrator passed these remarks while talking to a delegation of Korangi Association of Trade and Industry (KATI) here.

The delegation led by Zubair Chaya while incumbent President Saleem uz Zaman, former President Danish and others were also present on the occasion.

The KATI delegation apprised the Administrator that they are working on urban foresting and would work jointly for plantation in district Korangi. They requested that 3000 Road in Korangi may be named after renowned industrialist SM Munir for his great services for Industry and Commerce.

The administrator said that Korangi is an important area of Karachi and road carpeting, plantation and beautification would be carried out there. He said that thousands of labourers work in industries in Korangi.

Ahmed said that the roads in Korangi should be motorable keeping in view its importance. He said that it is a welcoming sign that businessmen and industrialists are taking part for beautification of the city and we want to carry out the works in industrial areas with consultation of the industrialists.

He said that roundabouts are made beautiful in many areas but the same can be made more beautiful, asking the private sectors to come up and work for the city. “We will welcome if any private organization comes up to do the work for Karachi’s betterment,” he added.

The administrator said that uplifting of infrastructure, flyovers and roads is being done, addingthat it was essential to keep the incumbent infrastructure intact before initiating new projects.

He also requested KATI delegation to recommend for betterment in Korangi Industrial area. Industrial areas are important and the KMC would fulfill its responsibilities as developing industrial areas is tantamount to developing the country, concluded the press release. End
